Business Process Improvement
What can it do for you?
What can business process improvement do for you? When done right, business process improvement (BPI) can have a profound effect on reducing redundancies, streamlining processes, reducing cost and waste, and having an overall positive impact on operations. There are a few challenges that may arise from doing BPI in house. For one, how well-defined is the scope of your organization’s capacity and vision by the employees and teams that are assigned to the task? It is one thing to have the awareness and understanding that improvement can be realized, but understanding the scope and know-how to get there requires a greater level of knowledge and experience. Another challenge is that when you take employees or managers with specialized skills away from their normal duties to learn how to implement BPI and then begin to affect changes in an organization you can expect an increase downtime of normal business operations. This can be less impactful than working with experienced consultants that specialize in understanding how to streamline business processes.
